Stiller and Meara on The Ed Sullivan Show

Stiller and Meara, the husband and wife comedy team who made numerous appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show throughout the 1960s and 70s, are back and still as funny as ever.  Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, with the help of their son Ben Stiller and his production company Red HourFilms, have launched a Stiller and Meara Yahoo! channel that features a weekly web series covering current events, pop culture and whatever else is on their minds.  The comedy icons have a back and forth over topics like trying to use the internet, Lady Gaga and “The Jersey Shore.” In one episode, when talking about how ridiculous the status updates are on what Jerry calls “Spacebook,” Anne gives an example, “I’m your friend and I just got back from going to the John.”

Along with these new Stiller and Meara videos, the channel features their classic acts from The Ed Sullivan Show.  The couple were Ed Sullivan Show regulars appearing on the CBS variety show over 30 times alongside musical guests like Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald and The Rolling Stones.  Some of their popular routines from the show include bits about Jonah in the whale, the end of the 1960s and name-calling.

These two were funny back then and they are still funny now. It is truly impressive that this couple has remained relevant in comedy for well over 40 years, and this channel is further testament to the fact that Stiller and Meara are timeless comedians.
