Motown Gold From The Ed Sullivan Show

On September 13th, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) and SOFA Entertainment will release Motown Gold from The Ed Sullivan Show, a two DVD collection featuring historic performances from some of the era’s most memorable acts.  Also to be released, commemorating the 50th anniversary of The Temptations and The Supremes, are The Best of The Temptations on The Ed Sullivan Show and The Best of The Supremes on The Ed Sullivan Show.  Both collections, released for the first time on DVD, will include over 20 of the groups’ greatest hits with extensive bonus material.

Motown Gold From The Ed Sullivan Show

Motown Gold’s all encompassing set will showcase the iconic performers that lit up the stage during this ground-breaking period in music.  The collection includes The Jackson 5, Diana Ross and The Supremes, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Martha & The Vandellas, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles and Gladys Knight and The Pips.  One of the highlights of this set is a never before released performance of Smokey Robinson & The Miracles singing a medley of “I Second That Emotion,” “If You Can Want,” and “Going to a Go-Go.”   Additional bonus material contains special performances by Gladys Knight & The Pips of “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” from Houston, Texas, and The Four Tops’ “Put A Little Love in Your Heart” from Washington D.C.

The Supremes and The Temptations surfaced in the early sixties and quickly became two of Motown’s most successful and accomplished acts.    These two DVD sets will cover many of the greatest hits from the groups’ legendary catalogs.

The Best of The Temptations On The Ed Sullivan Show

The Best of The Temptations presents 21 hits, including “My Girl,” “Get Ready,” “I’m Losing You,” “Just My Imagination,” “Runaway Child, Running Wild,” “I Can’t Get Next to You,” “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” and “Psychedelic Shack.”   Never before released medleys of “Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue),” “All I Need,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “I’ll Be There,” and “My Sweet Lord” will be featured in the set, as well as The Temptations first and last appearances on the show.  One of the highlights of this collection features The Temptations along with The Supremes performing a medley of each other’s hit songs on The Ed Sullivan Show.

The Best of The Supremes On The Ed Sullivan Show

The Best of The Supremes will include 22 acclaimed performances of such hits as “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “My World Is Empty Without You,” “Baby Love,” “Stop!  In The Name of Love,” “The Happening” and their very first Sullivan performance of “Come See About Me.”  This collection truly showcases why The Supremes are one of the top female acts of all-time.
